"This was beautiful!! I'm not one for reading a Gothic book but I would definitely read this multiple times. I loved the way Dana wrote the story. The characters had so much development and it flowed really well. I loved how it kept me in suspense and on the edge of the couch waiting to see what's going to happen next. I can't wait until February so that I can get book 2! This cover is beautiful also! I HIGHLY recommend!!"
"4.5/5
Takes place in Edinburgh it reminds me so much of a Tim Burton movie it takes place in the 1800 or 1900s so the dark Victorian era vibes are there. It's YA but doesn't read as one which I appreciated so much I absolutely adored our two main characters Hazel and Jack.it surprisingly it got pretty gory at some moments because one of the more interesting parts of this book is seeing how they were discovering medical things for the first time like it's just wild. Definitely written super well I didn't want to put down the book is so fun to read. I was also plesently supprised with the romance aspect in the book it was so unexpectedly precious. I loved Jack and Hazel and that twist at the end really had me rewind because I was so shocked. After you read the book definitely check out the interview between the author and narrator it makes you really appreciate the story. I loved the and appreciated the audiobook for this one the accents adds so much to the story and vibe you'd definitely be missing out if you physically read. I loved how atmospheric the story was the author did an amazing job. There's an interview with the author and she explains how she actually wrote about true things that happened in Edinburgh and wrote the book there in this old castle. There's actually a lot of history in Edinburgh she talks about how there's like literal bodies in bricked up into alleyways ?!? It's just insane just like the book 1 also loved the way she added pages in the book that look like there were taken from actual medical books it made the story feel that much more real "
"Gothic science-y story of a girl who wants to be a doctor in a time when women working wasn’t accepted.

Def a YA read.
No spice.
Rich girl falls for a poor boy trope.
If you read Stalking Jack the Ripper and enjoyed that, this may be a good book for you to try.

I thought it was an entertaining read, but I feel like this is the most predictable book I’ve ever read. Kinda made me lost interest in reading more by this author.

Also wasn’t a fan of the way it ended, personally."
"Loved it! I love that the main focus was *not* love but you can't keep me away from a love story between two unlikely friends! This story was told so well and it felt so natural, everything that happened. Cannot wait to read the second book!!"
