"DNF at 63%. 1.5 stars

James Roth is a madman. I got fed up with his casual cruelty and stopped reading because it was clear to me that he's a sociopath. I snuck a peak at some of the reviews and found out that he actually is a sociopath, so the only good feeling this book has left me with is validation. I hate Roth, and I hate Jasmine for being a weak ass doormat MC who lets her body control all her decisions. Like you can only feel bad and cry so much then do the same stupid things over and over again before it becomes clear you're into being humiliated and degraded. I, personally, am not into such things hence my abandoning of this book. The only toxic relationships I like in books are ones where it's deliberate, and the toxicity is a point of focus for knowingly being the unhealthy relationship it is. Every time I finish reading a dark romance I remind myself that these unhealthy relationships are romanticized to the stars, and yet I always seem to give these alpha holes another chance. So in a way, I'm no better than the doormat MC's. Maybe one day I'll say no more. But for now? On to the next."
"This book was so good TO ME. No, it wasn't a masterpiece, and the writing wasn't the best, but I couldn't put it down, and I liked almost every aspect. I know a lot of people don't like it, but it gave me that toxic relationship that I wanted. Roth and Jasmine were excellent, the angst, the back and forth, and the second chance made the book FOR me. I can't wait to see how the author redeems Roth because he is very morally gray and acts ****** 90% of the book. Anyway, I loved R&J and can't wait to read the next book.

Read if you like:
- Dark romance
- Morally grey mmc's
- Second chance
- Marriage of convenience
-A lot of ****

4.5/5⭐

tw: non-consent, dubious consent, abuse"
