"This book I think just got me HOOKED on shark attack thriller books. One of the things I didn’t expect from this book was how many side plots it had but it didn’t take away from the quality of it at all. All of the characters were fun to read and the layers that were added because of the side plots made the book much better. The ending was exactly what it was supposed to be, thrilling, and I couldn’t put it down until I knew what happened to “the fish.” Fantastic book. 27/30 "
"A sharp, funny classic that will make you think twice about that summer swim on the shore. Laced with blunt humor and vivid descriptions of the Shark’s terrifying power, Jaws also offers surprising insight into political corruption, class struggles, and profit over safety. A compelling Beach Read (if you dare!)"
"Such a riveting read. A couple of months ago I watched the movie, having no idea that the movie was based off of a book. Not as satisfying as the movie, this book followed the life of an Amity police chief Martin Brody, who is baffled when multiple people turn up dead to an apparent shark attack. Chief Brody, met with many bumps along the way, knows what’s best for his town. The chapters are very long, still a good read, with quite a twist. 4/5 ⭐️"
"Wonderful book. I especially love the way Peter Benchley writes. The book is very different from the classic movie, but I liked how different the side plots were. Jaws is the perfect beach-side read. This classic keeps you guessing what could be lurking under the white capped waves at Amity beach🦈"
"“Rising at him from the darkling blue—slowly, smoothly—was the shark. It rose with no apparent effort, an angel of death gliding toward an appointment foreordained.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I definitely prefer the movie, but I loved getting to experience the original source material and seeing the origins of these characters. I loved the emphasis on the town and its people as it added layers to this and made it more than just a shark story. Also, Benchley’s inclusion of scientific specifics elevated the story and made it that much more compelling."

"Let’s start with the fact that the book is different from the book and both are great. I believe Benchley creates characters that drive the book and the shark is a character in itself. "
