"One of my favorite childhood stories <3"

"I know a lot of people find this book creepy but I love it. It was a huge part of all my children's nightly storytime. I was given this book by my former roommate as a gift for my first baby. I will be forever grateful for this gift.

I had found out that my first baby, a little girl, had a heart defect when I was 20 weeks pregnant. At 32 weeks, I found out that she had in fact had several heart defects. When she was born she was immediately taken to the NICU and I had to wait several hours to get to see her. When I first met my daughter, Chloe Malyia, I instantly knew I had never loved as much I loved her. The feeling I had at the moment was something I will never be able to describe accurately. I loved this baby more than I had ever lived anyone.I thought I knew what love was but at that moment I first saw her and held her in my arms is a love that I knew I had never experienced before. When she was a week old she had open heart surgery. We had a lot of ups and downs. We were finally able to take her home when she was 2 months and 3 weeks old. We then received the devastating news that she would need a heart and lung transplant. We were asked to make the decision if we wanted to put her through this. The decision was made for me. She passed away when she was 3 months and 12 days old. I am forever grateful that I got what little time with her.

What does losing my baby girl have to do with the book? I would read her this book to her every day. It was a special story that I shared with my first baby because the amount of love a parent has for their children is immense and forever. I think the story represents that love. I also read the book to my other children and when they were old enough they would pick it out to read to me. They loved the book and usually it would be the first story they would pick oout to read. As they grew older I believe the reason they loved it so much was because it was their older sister's book and was their way of connecting with her. This book will always be a special book in our family."
"Tear-jerker."
