"As if Deadpool had slipped into the body of the Witcher Geralt." —The New York TimesIn the pitch dark, witty fantasy novella Prosper's Demon, K. J. Parker deftly creates a world with vivid, unbending rules, seething with demons, broken faith, and worse men.In a botched demonic extraction, they say the demon feels it ten times worse than the man. But they don’t die, and we do. Equilibrium. The unnamed and morally questionable narrator is an exorcist with great follow-through and few doubts. His methods aren’t delicate but they’re undeniably effective: he’ll get the demon out—he just doesn’t particularly care what happens to the person.Prosper of Schanz is a man of science, determined to raise the world’s first philosopher-king, reared according to the purest principles. Too bad he’s demonically possessed. At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

"4.5!!! I throughly enjoyed this; I’m a sucker for anti-heroes and sardonic voices. So basically this was perfect.

I actually don’t even mind that this was a novella. Perhaps too much of this voice would drive me crazy, but since I was left wanting, I miss it already. The commentary was entertaining while also being thought provoking.

In short, an almost unbearably clever jaunt that certainly means I’ll be reading the next!"

"What a joy to be able to reread something for a change.

I thought I'd have an easier reading this time around but I was sorely mistaken, it was just as tough a job as it was back then lmao. Still, very enjoyable it was, even if it felt like I was wrestling a demon out of the book myself.

I'd lie if I said I still wasn't a bit clueless as we speak, but that's part of the fun of it all.
If any of you has a clearer idea about this, do let me know.

Now I'm off to try and see if the second book will give me an easier time, but frankly I doubt it."
"I picked this up on a whim because I thought the cover was stunning. This was a fantastic novella with such a uniquely clever narrator. Unlike anything I've ever read before. I really enjoyed this author's writing style and I didn't see that ending coming at all, but it was incredible and I loved it."
