"I liked this one quite a bit even though it didn't seem to fit with the rest of the series as far as having animals pop in and out. Other than that, this was a good book. I felt bad for Grif, going through what I imagine too many soldiers go through. The night terrors, the panic attacks, all the things that remind them that they've seen some pretty bad things. Enter Kate, who is willing to help him without thought of what she might gain, only that she might help him. She's a sweet girl.

Kate is a sweet girl who is always looking out for everyone. She sometimes forgets to look after herself. She's selfless, she never complains about taking care of her two siblings, her father, her ex boyfriend or anyone else that comes along. She just does what needs to be done and is happy to do it. She doesn't ignore her needs, she just forgets that when taking care of others she should also take care of herself. Grif has been the only one in her life that has wanted to make things about her without using it to take advantage of her. It's really sweet and of course it takes them both almost too long to realize what is going on, but watching them piece each other together is a sweet story.

Only one thing bugged me. Holly tended to treat Kate as if she were a 14 year old virgin incapable of picking appropriate lovers. She keeps pointing out how Kate isn't ready for the big leagues and should stay away from Grif. I get that friends want to warn each other or make sure they don't get hurt, but Holly's way of going about it was to beat down Kate. Mostly, I was glad Holly was out of the picture for most of this because I wasn't a fan of the way she was trying to "help" her friend.
"
