A Goodreads Most Anticipated Romance A heartwarming novel about hope after loss as a young widow receives mysterious messages of love from the “must-buy author” (Jodi Picoult) of Eight Perfect Hours.Sparkly and charming Natalie Fincher has it all—a handsome new husband, a fixer-upper cottage of her dreams, and the opportunity to tour with the musical she’s spent years writing. But when her husband suddenly dies, all her hopes and dreams instantly disappear. Two and a half years later, Natalie is still lost. She works, sleeps (well, as much as the sexually frustrated village foxes will allow), and sees friends just often enough to allay their worries, but her life is empty. And she can only bring herself to play music at a London train station’s public piano where she can be anonymous. She’s lost motivation, faith in love, in happiness…in everything. But when someone begins to mysteriously leave the sheet music for her husband’s favorite songs at the station’s piano, Natalie begins to feel a sense of hope and excitement for the first time. As she investigates just who could be doing this, Natalie finds herself on an unexpected journey toward newfound love for herself, for life, and maybe, for a special someone.

"Very beautiful story about healing and moving on. I loved that there was also romance. However, being a teen in high school reading about a grieving widow wasn’t my cup of tea. I couldn’t relate, I didn’t like the drinking, it was overall too adult for 15 year old me. I give this book a 2.5 stars."
"Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the complimentary copy of this book. All comments below are my own.
Natalie Fincher’s husband, Russ, unexpectedly died a couple of years ago, and she’s been standing still in her grief. An accomplished pianist, she only plays when no one watches at the train station. When someone begins leaving her music that was special to her and her husband, it leads her to find herself again.
Moving, emotional, and ultimately a love story as much as a self-love story.
I would recommend if you’re ready to be in your feelings with tissues.
CW: spousal death, ocean death, bike death, cheating"
"My favorite books are the ones that make me feel all the feels - laugh and cry - sometimes on the same page. Lia Louis, you stir up ALL the emotions. You also write the perfect book boyfriends. I’ve only read two of your books but both Eliot in Dear Emmie Blue and Tom in The Key to My Heart are absolutely lovely. Off to pick out my next Lia Louis read!"

"Wow. How gut wrenching to read a novel like this, and as the reader put yourself in the situation.. I cried. A LOT. Alas, the story must go on, and after a few chapters, I myself also felt hope, hope for Natalie, hope for happiness once again. But always with a sense of guilt and heartbreak, not knowing if she could feel happiness, or know love again. THE KEY TO MY HEART is a perfect read for the holiday season. You will feel extra grateful for your loved ones this holiday season. READ IT TODAY!"
