"This series was a frustrating combination of great story and confusing storytelling. By the third book I finally just gave up trying to make sense of random important information that just sprang out of nowhere and finished the book. It's a good story, good magic system, and worth the read if you can let go of that "was this important thing mentioned before and I missed it, or did it just get dropped here randomly?" feeling. It's ironic because one of my pet peeves is a book that has certain details repeated ad nauseum and this one was the complete opposite. I agree with a lot of the reviews that the second book was the best of the three.

Side-note: this is the second book I have read since Name of the Wind that borrows from Patrick Rothfuss style. That's kind of cool for him."
