When Sarah lucks into a sweet one-bedroom at Asilo Del Mar Apartments in Los Angeles, she thinks she's hit the jackpot. It's got plenty of space, friendly tenants, group BBQs and even a cute neighbour next door. All is not what it seems: loud noises start keeping her awake at night; her cat is missing; everyone seems to be a little too helpful and friendly, except for the weirdo, Lester. Soon, Sarah learns she didn't choose this apartment — it chose her.

"While it has some commendable elements, it also has its share of drawbacks.
On the positive side, the movie explores an intriguing premise of a woman moving into what seems like an idyllic apartment complex, only to discover a sinister truth. The slow-building tension and mystery keep you engaged, and the lead actress, Nicole Brydon Bloom, delivers a solid performance in conveying her character's growing paranoia.
However, it suffers from some predictability, as the plot follows familiar horror-thriller tropes. The characters, aside from the protagonist, lack depth, which makes it challenging to invest emotionally in their fates. Additionally, the film's pacing can feel uneven at times, with moments of tension and excitement interrupted by slower segments.
Overall, its a decent thriller that offers a fresh take on the horrors of communal living but doesn't quite reach the heights of some other films in the genre. It's worth a watch if you're a fan of psychological thrillers, but it may leave you wanting more in terms of originality and character development."
"Nice illustration of how community loyalty can go wrong. "

"This movie caught me totally by surprise. I have been watching lots of horror with lots of jump scares and gore but 1BR just scares you so well without relying on those things. There is gore present but the scare really comes from the setting and the awesomely ambiguous lore of the place. One of my favorites this year by far. 8.4/10 "
