Cleopatra, the famed Egyptian Queen born in 69 B.C., is shown to have been brought by Roman ruler Julius Caesar at age 18. Caesar becomes sexually obsessed by the 18 year old queen, beds her, and eventually has a son by her. However, his Roman followers and his wife are not pleased by the union. In fact, as Caesar has only a daughter by his wife, he had picked Octavian as his successor.

"This miniseries has an excellent cast. Although I thought that Leonor Varela, a French actress didn't completely fit the role, I paid more attention to Timothy Dalton, Billy Zane, and Rupert Graves, as Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Brutus, respectively. Over the years, the cast has grown on me a little more each time. Cleopatra is shown as more of a young ruler that needs to grow into her role as leader of Egypt, but still wanting more, being ambitious while she courts the most powerful men in Rome on her day. The action sequences and battle scenes are well crafted and balanced along with the strategic and emotional nature of Cleopatra's relationships. "
"Love it!"
