"I tried watching this one, got halfway through season 1, but couldn't get into it. I did find out that there is a similar name for the one that was made before about the stories, but I didn't watch it and don't think I will later on."

"While this can be watched alone, I highly recommend starting with the original 2006 series. What can I say? They tricked us into believing it was a reboot, then, in true Higurashi fashion, surprised everyone. So while you certainly could start here, I think you miss out on a lot by doing so. This entry is even more brutal than the first, and however hard that one was to watch at times, this one I had to take actual breaks during. That said, it is amazing and the twist is even more gut wrenching than one might think going in. "
