"⭐️3/5⭐️ The very FIRST episode of this 10-episode #Netflix #romcom series was undoubtedly the highlight — it grabbed my attention immediately with its playful, sexy, and fun dialogue and vibe. The chemistry between the main characters was on point, the jokes were very tongue-in-cheek, and the family dynamics were also great. Everything about the premiere felt lively and fresh. However, the rest of the series, while still an easy watch, didn’t quite live up to the initial spark of the pilot episode.
▪️NOBODY WANTS THIS (2024) is a romantic comedy series on Netflix, starring Kristen Bell as Joanne, an outspoken feminist podcaster who grew up Catholic but now has no particular religious beliefs (agnostic, I suppose). Throughout the series, she engages in candid discussions about relationships and sexuality, often drawing from her own experiences. The narrative follows her #romantic journey with Noah (Adam Brody), a rabbi, highlighting the cultural and belief differences between them. #10episodes 25 minutes per episode"
"Absolutely terrific. Brody and Bell are both adorable and both play very interesting characters perfect. Especially Bell. Each has a best friend/sibling, played by Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons, that adds so much. Super romantic. And stop and pause each episode several times for fits of laughter funny. "
"I really enjoyed this show. I can’t think of many recent rom com type shows I would recommend but this one was a lot of fun. It’s young and edgy with good chemistry all around. A few minor characters weren’t cast particularly well, but the stars were great. And maybe the biggest surprise for me was that tall annoying guy from Veep totally steals the show 😊"
"Okay, Adam Brody is back to steal our hearts, and it is soooo good. The onscreen chemistry is the most intense that I have seen in any TV show or movie, ever. The way he takes control of the first kiss scene makes you want to fall in love for the first time again. It makes you wanna quit your job and search the earth until you find your person. This show proves that you don't need sex to sell romance.
Taking all that aside, the way Judaism is addressed by educating an American audience that so clearly lacks knowledge of diversity, religion, and culture is so refreshing. I think it is so amazing to acknowledge how hard it is to meld two completely different lifestyles together and honestly shows why many of these relationships fail despite the love that is there.
I love how outspoken Bell's character is and how she refuses to apologize for who she is. I think if someone doesn't want you for exactly who you are, then they're so not worth it. That's the beauty of their relationship. The suspension of judgment of one another is truly beyond compare.
