An ambitious career woman signs up for a co-parenting website only to find a match she never expected, in this unflinchingly funny and honest novel from the author of Last Tang Standing.Management consultant Lucie Yi is done waiting for Mr. Right. After a harrowing breakup foiled her plans for children—and drove her to a meltdown in a Tribeca baby store—she’s ready to take matters into her own hands. She signs up for an elective co-parenting website to find a suitable partner with whom to procreate—as platonic as family planning can be. Collin Read checks all of Lucie’s boxes; he shares a similar cultural background, he’s honest, and most important, he’s ready to become a father. When they match, it doesn’t take long for Lucie to take a leap of faith for her future. So what if her conservative family might not approve? When Lucie becomes pregnant, the pair return to Singapore and, sure enough, her parents refuse to look on the bright side. Even more complicated, Lucie’s ex-fiancé reappears, sparking unresolved feelings and compounding work pressures and the baffling ways her body is changing. Suddenly her straightforward arrangement is falling apart before her very eyes, and Lucie will have to decide how to juggle the demands of the people she loves while pursuing the life she really wants.

"This book was a really solid read. It wasn’t a big deal if I put it down because it was easy to fall back into the story. Lucie can be a little unlikable at some times and I could have used less of her viewpoint and more of Colin’s. However, I thought the characters had good chemistry and the author really built up the slow burn. It was more general adult than rom com, but I still loved the jokes and puns throughout. Overall, a really good read."

"This was an easy read. As an Asian American I felt that the dynamic with her parents are 130% true. The culture is very different and the way Lauren writes about it is super realistic & relatable. There were times during the book where I gave up on Lucie because of her back & forth love interests. I have to admit that lots of people struggle the same way if they were in her situation or something similar. Overall, this book hooks you & I recommend it. "
"Lucie Yi has decided that it’s time to have a baby. She’s in her late thirties, financially thriving, and surrounded by a great group of friends. The only thing missing is someone to have a baby with.

Enter Collin Read, the man she is matched with on the unique online co-parenting platform they both joined. As the two get to know each other, they decide to go forward with having a baby and raising it together in Lucile’s home country of Singapore.

Along the journey from conception to birth, Lucie encounters family roadblocks, an ex that she hasn’t gotten over, and doubts about building a child’s life with Collin. Will they end up one happy family, or will she choose an unexpected path?

Some readers may not appreciate the practicality of this child bearing plan, but I thought that Lauren Ho made it realistic both logistically and emotionally.

Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC."
