"Pretty good story. Its like harry potter met scooby doo without scooby doo haha.
The main lead is 11 years old with a celebrity mom and an absent dad. Her mom wants her to be perfect to match her image as celebrity single mom (subplot) so she sends her to a boarding school, before she goes the girl gets a letter from ' her dad' and she uncovers a secret. I believe it's a good story but as an adult I found it missing some explanations. It's about friendships and struggles. One scene I found to be more adult than juvenile but other than that I recommend. No spice and nothing extreme. "
"Fun little secret society middle grade set in English boarding school.

PS. It surprised me that this was published after I stopped reading middle grade and still the 12 year old main character was born before me haha. I was not 10 in 2019. Really, I know that's surprising."

"This was a pretty quick read, with short chapters, which I always like. I feel it would have worked better as YA--I kept forgetting these kids were only tweens and had they been older and been written for an older audience could've leaned in even more into some of the darker aspects. It definitely feels like a first book in a series where it's laying the groundwork which was frustrating in some moments since I wanted a more complete story in this one. Overall an ok debut and mystery middle grade book, but lacks some complexity."
