"How can I be mad that this is over but also be happy about it too? Because it ended without withholding too much and I don't want that messed up by a sequel. Like that curly headed girl who broke in and checked out those different beds, this one was just right. Rebecca Ross has a homelike feel writing style. She brings you into the minds and heart of these characters and whether you like them or not you definitely respect the effort it took.

For instance Jack was one of my least favorite characters. Only because I didn't relate to him well but I still enjoyed the story regardless because it was a dang good one. The plot was unlike racism today where your family and friends have taught you to hate someone for no other reason than they were taught the same thing. It was nice to see these characters trying to remove their blinders and see the world for themselves. It was heartening to watch years of stubborn pride being burned away with trust and understanding.

There were so many perspectives from the two clans and the spirit world. It was interesting to see how vastly different the cultures were even when they were not that far apart. I can't say that tons happened because you were pulled in so many directions but I was still in raptures over it. The character development and world building were so vibrant that I could see this on screen in all its Celtic glory.

There was much originality from the story though the aethyn poison blood jewels was by far my favorite. I would love to wear the blood of my enemy, and no, I am not thinking of how it could be done in this world..... I very much enjoyed the spirits of the earth, even more so in the second book. The elements made earth come alive. Rolling hills bunching beneath your feet. It made me acknowledge what I might be trampling when I take an evening stroll.

So much needed to be answered, so I raced towards the end. The twist was worth it though. Still if I had looked closer it was there, but I didn't catch the twist in time. Torin and Sidra were my favorite of course. I'm a sucker for unrequited love. And their relationship only grew more sweet and beautiful. Torin was a stubborn might of a man but loved his girls. Sidra was a born leader especially the way she cared for everyone. The couple deserved to have a piece of happiness no matter how long it lasted. Very surprised by these seires."

"4.5 stars, but had to round up because the ending made me happy cry. I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the first, but it’s been 2+ years since I read that and didn’t want to re-read 400 pages to get my bearings for this one. Rebecca Ross did her best to re-establish the important plot points and details, but I still felt a little lost on some of the original plot at times (a me problem, not the books problem). Overall very fun world, I felt like the twists were hidden well enough that by the time I figured them out, they were explicitly revealed shortly after (except Iagan’s fate, that I managed to put together pretty early on)."
