R.A. Salvatore
The thrilling first adventure in the classic D&D fantasy series, The Legend of Drizzt—perfect for fans of the tabletop RPG and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Discover the origin story of one of the greatest heroes of the Forgotten Realms: drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden. As the third son of Mother Malice and weaponmaster Zaknafein, Drizzt Do’Urden must be sacrificed to Lolth, the evil Spider Queen, per the traditions of their matriarchal drow society. But with the unexpected death of his older brother, young Drizzt is spared—though still at the mercy of his abusive sisters. As Drizzt grows older, and proves himself to be a formidable warrior at Melee-Magthere Academy, he realizes his idea of good and evil does not match up with those of his fellow drow, who show only cruelty to the other races of the Underdark . . . Can Drizzt stay true to himself in a such an unforgiving, unprincipled world? Drizzt Do’Urden, first introduced in The Icewind Dale Trilogy, quickly became one of the fantasy genre’s standout characters. With Homeland, Salvatore pulls back the curtain to reveal the fascinating tale of how this hero came to be—how this one lone drow walked out of the shadowy depths of the Underdark to leave behind an evil society and a family that wanted him dead. Homeland is the first book in the Dark Elf Trilogy and the Legend of Drizzt series.

"Homeland by R.A. Salvatore completely drew me in with its rich world building and the introduction of Drizzt Do’Urden, one of my favorite characters. I loved exploring Menzoberranzan, it’s such a fascinating and terrifying place, and it gave me a deeper understanding of the brutal world Drizzt was born into. His inner conflict and refusal to conform to the cruelty of drow society really resonated with me and made me root for him even more. The action scenes were gripping, and I couldn’t get enough of Salvatore’s vivid descriptions, though some of the political scheming dragged a bit for me. Still, it’s a powerful start to Drizzt’s story and easily earns 4 out of 5 stars in my book!"
"Ok, I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I kept wanting to know what happens next and was cheering for drittz despite the dark, depressing, and evil world he lived in. Some parts are not enjoyable by any means, but I'll definitely be reading more of the series! (Shout out to the husband for the recommendation) :D"
"Good lord this book is every aspect of fantasy I love. Not too sappy romance but beautifully written and action packed. Especially amazing for D&D lovers or fantasy lovers. Highly recommend!#fantasy #action #"

"The main character in this story is so intriguing. The author paints such a vivid picture of this dark underworld and their customs and creatures. "

"I just got done reading this for the first time since my middle school days. Despite the (totally unfair) hate Drizzt gets in the Dungeons and Dragons circles for the legions of clones and imitators everyone has played at least once, this holds up pretty well. Not perfect by any means, but thoroughly enjoyable. I'm excited to revisit the other other entries in this starting trilogy as well as the other volumes I missed out on."

"I keep telling myself no more fantasy written by white male incels, but here we are again.
DNF’d due to racism and sexism. So you’re telling me this evil, malicious, and power hungry race of elves have dark skin and are ruled by women?
Next!"
