A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor

(234)
On the brink of losing her position as a maid and with no prospects to go on, the offer of a place at Rooksgrave Manor--a house of ill and unusual repute--sounds like a perfect fit for a young woman with Esther's inclinations. Even better, the invitation comes by the hand of the handsome Dr. Underwood, a delicate gentleman with a ferocious alter ego who knows exactly what he wants from Esther. Upon arrival, the men and the daily decadence of the manor feel too good to be true for a girl of Esther's station. There are rules to be followed, expectations to meet, and Esther is afraid she might be too wicked even for a place like Rooksgrave. Temptations lurk around every shadowy corner and Esther has never been a girl able to resist. But the risk of disappointing her new gentlemen isn't all that's threatening Esther's new position. Rooksgrave Manor's protections for its unusual patrons are failing, the wards are crumbling, and Esther's new and exquisitely pleasurable life may all come tumbling down. -- from the back cover.

"Oh boy Esther was in for a doozy at the Rooksgrave Manor. I didn’t hate this book, I didn’t love it, but I did enjoy it. The different gentlemen and their personalities and the way they courted Esther was beautifully written. I enjoyed the character development that took place throughout the story for all characters involved, however, I don’t know that there is a discernible plot here. Though I do have to add the normalizing of “taboo” behavior is one I absolutely love in this book. However, why is Birsha so obsessed with Esther and her existence? How does she factor in his world domination plan? Which also you don’t really discover until the last few pages and even then, to me is still very hazy and gray, so it’s a little confusing. I have a feeling that this may be a the beginner teaser book, where the coming series will dive deeper into the plot and be much more involving than wild amazing monster sex."
"3.5 star.

Well here we are.

All the reviews I read: yes monster sex with no plot just what I wanted.
Me: Well I do enjoy ****.... but also character depth, world building, and an actual story.

Am I asking too much? I think not. Does this mean I didn't enjoy this easy fun read? Absolutely not. I enjoyed it quite a few times if you catch my drift. We begin with Esther the nymphomaniac which of course was entertaining as hell. Still I wish she would have been more intrigued with each of the males hobbies while getting to know them.

Again not much depth or plot but warm and comforting all the same. Each of the males brought different dynamics to the story. Possessive, gentle, rough, demanding, submissive. Though Amon felt like he was outside of the group. Just didn’t fit well. He was almost like the dad and Auguste the mom. I enjoyed immensely the arguing and comraderie of the males. I even liked learning each ones kink.

But the I-want-to-show-you-off thing got pretty corny. And no surprise it was all perfect and happily ever after. Each male was okay with the arrangement. She liked each one equally which was not genuine. I mean how do you find five perfect males in 2 weeks and they all somehow enjoy each other? Still even though I'm asking too much from the book equivalent to skin flicks the steamy parts where spot on.

And just like the goodread reviewer Francesca during the theater scene I was there with popcorn too like "Whens the next show?" Favorite page smutty pages 7, 162, 203, 245, 276."
