"If I had started reading this as a physical book or even an ebook, I know I would have given up on this book after the first 50 pages. I happened to listen to the audiobook but even that couldn't save it for me.

Noel was a drunk and Stella, a one night stand, is pregnant and dieing of in the hospital. She tells Noel that he is the father so upon her death he quits drinking and devotes himself to "minding Frankie," the baby girl born to Stella. The plot is made up of several interlocking stories and characters which primarily revolve around Noel, his family, his case worker, his tenet, and the neighbors in his neighborhood in St. Jarleth Crescent near Dublin.

First off Noel was an idjet, Moira was a witch with a "b" in place of the "w" and the few characters that had redeeming qualities, such as Emily, had no where near the role I wished they would have had. The story dragged for so long with little or no reason to continue other than as a means of torture and the fact that it was the book club pick for the month (unfortunately). The only redeeming parts were the parts where they expressed how hard it was to mind a child while sleep deprived and the crazy feeding/sleeping schedules. Otherwise, I was bored out of my mind! I do not recommend this unless you like boring and uneventful read such as this."
