"A great conclusion to the Earthsea series. I really liked how the story centered on the female characters Tenar and Therru. In The Tombs of Atuan, Tenar shared the spotlight with Ged, but here the females take center stage. At a time when many of the men are shaken, unsure, powerless, or absent all together, Mother and daughter as well as grandmother and aunt type figures display strength and mysterious power in many ways and are woven into this epic tale. It’s also cool to see Ged and Tenar in the later stages of life as roles shift and change. The climax all happens very fast (maybe a little too fast) but is a nice resolution to some of the legends and lore that have been hinted to readers throughout the series. I think this is my second favorite book in the series after A Wizard of Earthsea."
"One of the best in the series, beautifully written monologues and a plot that's still relevant to today"
