"While this is middle grade fiction, I would recommend this for adults as well. Not too preachy but with some strong messages and reflections on what guns are for (with strong anti-gun leanings); as well as racism and race relations. I really appreciated that there were basically no white people in this book other than police, as it really shifted the conversation about race from some well-worn grooves and got me thinking differently. Some really neat insights into an immigrant experience, as well. I will definitely consider this to give to my children to read when they’re old enough!"
