Bill Bryson
In the early seventies, Bill Bryson backpacked across Europe—in search of enlightenment, beer, and women. He was accompanied by an unforgettable sidekick named Stephen Katz (who will be gloriously familiar to readers of Bryson's A Walk in the Woods). Twenty years later, he decided to retrace his journey. The result is the affectionate and riotously funny Neither Here Nor There.

"This may be my favorite Bryson...and that's saying something!"

"Hmmm. I wrote this review once, but Goodreads ate it. Suffice to say that I have enjoyed other works by Bryson, but not this one. Here he's less interested in stories about the places he's visiting or the history of an area and more interested in complaining about the vagaries of travel, which normally seem self-inflicted for Bryson. The book also has an odd relationship with women....I was never comfortable with the frequency or way he talked about them."
