"This book had it all - a brilliant hook, dramatic and unexpected build, world-building mystery, interesting characters, intrigue, betrayal... More than that, it had the illustrious "C Story." In fact, it inspired the articulation of the very concept of C Story! And then the end.

What the hell happened to the end??? It almost pulled a James Dashner move and didn't explain anything. The explanation it did offer was luke warm at best. I mean, it's an interesting story, but it had the potential to be great! Thought provoking! Philosophically disturbing! Bloody brilliant! And it's like Winters had a deadline to meet and just said, "Oops. Time's up! Uh... And the coach turned back into a pumpkin but Cinderella still got to go on a road trip the end."

Huh. Um. Bummer. How am I supposed to rate that???

Well, the masses have it: 3.5 stars.
*F* bomb
Some violence"
"In a futuristic world, where the exchanging of facts is a form of introduction and lying is the greatest crime you can commit, we meet Lazlo Ratesic of the Speculative Service. He is a veteran of the law enforcement dedicated to upholding the truth and discerning falsities.
Lazlo is called to the scene of a death. Is there something to it or was it a mere accident? Lazlo would say it’s cut and dry, nothing to it, and it is what it is. There’s no case here-or is there? Bring in Laz’s newly appointed bright eyed partner Aysa- a prodigy of Laz’s late, great detective of a brother, Charlie. She begins to speculate and question possibilities which in turn opens Laz’s eyes to a new world of possibilities.
There’s the hook! I assure you once you think you have this book figured out it will turn it on it’s head and then again and again. Once you hit the climax you will not want to put it down until you finish it. Thought provoking and a great mystery. If it weren’t for Book of the Month Club I probably would have missed this!"
