I dare you not to fall madly in love with all of them.” —Laura Sebastian, New York Times bestselling author of Ash Princess * "A well-crafted, surprising, and gripping start to a new trilogy." —Kirkus Reviews, STARRED review

"Honestly I think this is my favorite book so far this year. Its one of those books that I knew from the very first chapter that I would love it. Its also one of those books I could have finished in 2-3 days but had to hold off because I didn’t have the next book. I have a feeling that the next books will be even better than the first one too. My favorite character is Anton and my second favorite is Jude. Spoilers after here: I had a feeling Anton was the saint after awhile because his powers were said to be really powerful. And I thought that could be a reason why his brother tried to drown him but I wasn’t too far off with that. And im still ready for when the hierophant takes of his mask and gives us a huge plot twist like with Hassans aunt. "
"I just finished reading this book and I really enjoyed it. I agree with people who think there is too much exposition, but I think there was still enough happening that it didn't bore me. I just wish it was only one book, instead of a series. Now I feel like I need to finish the series so I know what happens."
"Let's get one thing simple and straight. I LOVE Fantasy.

Even if it's typical, ESPECIALLY if it's typical. There's nothing I love more than magical adventures with destinies and love and kingdoms and multiPOV's. It's simple and sweet and more than cozy enough for the cooler season upon me.

And WOW; is this book everyone of those things. I loved just about every character here. (yeah I know... that's not a low bar for me, but an IMPORTANT one! I loved the world and it's magic system. I find it SO cool. It's politics is meaningfully explored in an easy to understand way, yet completely fascinating.

I am very archetypically (is that a word?) blind. I can't for the life of guess plot points, but everything was revealed in a thrilling way and I found myself begging for more. I am a book person. I am a BOOK PERSON!!

I am sad Hector died... good night tristate area!"
"I absolutely LOVED this book! f you love character driven books, you'll love this one as well!
Told in 5 points of view, each character brings something to the table and has their own story to tell. I don't think anything was particularly rushed and I was really interested to see where each character would end up by the end.
I will say though that the main reason this was bumped up from a 4/5 to 5/5 is because my suspicions/want for a certain pairing just might happen in the sequel??
Overall, I loved this book and can't wait to get my hands on the sequel!!"
