Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird's adventures at the school take a mysterious turn. Those who appear to be friends are turning out to be enemies. And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends. So begins the gripping third installment of this "highly addictive series" (Romantic Times), in which Zoey's mettle will be tested like never before. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey doesn't have a clue how to help her, but she does know that anything she and Stevie Rae discover must be kept secret from everyone else at the House of Night, where trust has become a rare commodity. Speaking of rare: Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected and rare position of having three boyfriends. Mix a little bloodlust into the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster. Just when it seems things couldn't get any tougher, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith, and Zoey's horrid step-father in particular, are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres. But, as Zoey and her friends so often find out, how things appear rarely reflects the truth...Chosen is the third in the House of Night series by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

"WARNING THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS!!! Okay I got to say this was going to be a 2 star book with the way it was going. First off, I'm getting really annoyed when these authors constantly repeat things from the previous books word for word, I already know the information and what the Cherokee word is for a specific term, I already know what happened in the previous books. I'm just getting irritated with how many chapters and pages is being wasted on repeats, you know? Oh and then the beginning starts off with Zoey being an ungrateful brat about her birthday gifts. I get she's had years of having basically Christmas gifts as birthday gifts but she should've realized that these friends of hers have only known her for 2 months! Did she really expect them to know automatically that she didn't like that type of stuff? Yes she told Stevie Rae but she could've told everyone else when they're having dinner, or lunch?? She's not much of a good actor when she "accepts" the gifts. That made me angry. What completely grossed me out is the student-teacher relationship she had with loren. Seriously Neferet, you had to go that low in your little plan to bring her down?? That's gross even for a vampire world. How can Zoey be so stupid and actually listen to all the "sweet things" loren said, like seriously she didn't need that added onto her plate and yet she's like "Oh my gosh, the hottest half professor is hitting on me and wants only me to be his! Oh how lucky I must be to not follow rules because I'm a special girl, I'm going to give him whatever he wants because he loves me, blah, blah, blah!!(all said in a squeaky voice by the way)🤮 I honestly don't even think she had true feelings for Erik, she just liked being with the most popular vamp in school. I seriously didn't like all the lying Zoey was doing, I get it with all the intuition from adult vamps but come on!! Her friends definitely did not deserve that. Poor heath, he seemed like a good guy but still a little on the obsessed side of things. Aphrodite kind of has some good character development, I loved the elemental twist and Stevie Rae seemed pretty cool. I have a pretty good feeling on who is doing all the killings. I'll obviously be reading book 4 because this ending was pretty good given all the negatives about it. I'll see how book 4 ends to determine if I need or want to buy the rest of the series."
"3.5 stars. This one was slightly better about the gay stereotyping and "****" shaming, but it still had a lot.<br/><br/>Edited to add: <spoiler> I'm all for a taboo student-teacher romance (in a fictional story only, of course), but there's no way you can spin Loren in a positive light. Even if his little plot with Neferet didn't exist, he purposefully imprinted with a student. He knew it would make her susceptible to him. I'm also super over the underhanded homophobia and "****" shaming. </spoiler><br/><br/>I'm sticking this out because I want to know how the story ends, but I'm pretty opposed to the actual writing at this point."
"It’s a good YA Series. It felt to go a little slow in some parts but good otherwise "
