"I didn't care for this because so many of the characters felt very one dimensional. I liked having recipes sprinkled throughout. But the main character definitely wears her white privilege out and there's just too much media like this already. I don't need more. "

"Maybe the author's horror is better. This was pretty horrible. Actually seems to take place in the mid 1980's in an idyllic style town where a cookie maker can have a flourishing business, be a bad ass snooper and even take on physical challenges like she does it all the time. A cookie maker. Meanwhile the cop who wants to be detective is asking her for detection advice, giving her information about the investigation and complimenting her when she puts herself in danger and messes with evidence. NOPE. Can't. Just can't. This did NOT age well."

"Getting over my Goldy Schulz heartbreak is hard, but this is a strong contestant to fill that emptiness in my heart. Never thought cozy mysteries would be such a bop in my reading agenda but here we are.<br/>Hannah is a likeable character, you like her since the moment she shows up. Witty, kind, puts up with everyone's BS, definitely a baker after my own heart.<br/>The love triangle is fun so far, can't say whose team I'm on yet, though.<br/>And the cookies? They definitely push the story forward.<br/>Definitely looking forward to reading the next one."

My favourite parts were the growth of Hannah and Andrea's relationship and the fact that I guessed who did it! I never guess whodunit in mystery books, and while I changed my guess about 3 times, I figured it out before Hannah did and I was so proud of myself. <br/><br/>I highly recommend this to anyone who loves baking, cozy mysteries, and wants a quick read!"

"I’ve seen books in this series on bookshelves for as long as I can remember, and the idea of a “cozy” mystery intrigued me, so I figured I’d give it a try. I like the concept of small town environments but this one felt a little too much of that? 80% of this book felt like fluff and every time I tried to read it, I’d fall asleep - literally. Needless to say, I probably won’t be reading any more in this series."

"Pros:<br/><br/>I truly enjoyed watching the characters develop through the book and really take on solid life in the short short included in my copy.<br/><br/>The recipes are terribly tempting and I feel like I’m going to end up having to try several of them. When I continue the series I’m tempted to find a recipe ahead of time so I can make it and try it while reading.<br/><br/>Cons:<br/><br/>I found it extremely unbelievable that anyone on the police force would specifically involve a civilian and not report their help. If anything had happened to Hannah that could have been the end of Bill’s career and a huge lawsuit for the police force.<br/><br/>The story is good and keeps you guessing but it is very fluffy when you’re coming off edge of your seat thrillers. I would say it’s a recovery book, like comfort food when you need to let your brain relax while you visit with new and old friends in the world Joanne Fluke has created."
