"Sooo. Finished in 1 day and honestly quite disappointed. I was really expecting to love this book but this just wasn’t it for me. If I knew how it was going to end, I probably wouldn’t have read it in the first place.
****SPOILERS**** !!!!!
Okay I’ll start with some good points. I absolutely loved how this was written! Loooved how it was Lucy telling her entire story. This is the first book I’ve come across that was written like this and I really enjoyed it. The storyline was engaging enough to make me want to finish it and know everything.
Now for the negatives. This book was actually frustrating to read. None of the characters were very likeable. I only adored Darren up until he became an asshole at the end. He definitely deserved better tho.
Gabe was completely unlikeable, he was way too self-absorbed and beyond selfish. It was so hard to read how he really couldn’t care less about Lucy. And Lucy was annoying af, like girl how are you gonna be hung up on your ex from like 10 years ago? I could not stand how much she disrespected Darren. And obviously the way I viewed all these different events in the book is heavily influenced by my own beliefs and values in life.
I despised how Lucy kept in touch with Gabe and kept letting him run back to her despite her having a husband and children. How are you gonna be this available to another man that is not your husband?
Like obviously it’s a fiction novel and this is how the story is BUT I get so sucked in and did not like reading that LOL.
Also, the ending? I wasn’t really expecting it other than him being the father but I didn’t like how he died. I needed more than that!! I also just wanted to know if Darren ever found out… he deserved to know.
This book really played with my feelings. If anyone wants to talk about this please let me know lol.
Would I recommend this book? Honestly no, probably not.
