"Unexpected. My mom gave this to me to read and I didn't realize it was a "Christian book". I'm a Christian, but I don't make a habit of reading those kinds of books - many of them lack substance. Anyhow, this was a touching book. I found myself laughing, crying, hoping...all in spite of myself. Such a good example of modern day invisible lines between black people who lived during times of slavery and segregation and current day white people who have no clue. I learned a lot from this book, and fell in love with Dallas."

"This book is absolutely beautiful, but it will also completely destroy you. If you want a story that will break you and pick the pieces back up and change what you think, then this book is perfect for you. Such a cliche, but this book is an underated masterpiece. Can't bare to watch the movie though. Living through that story once is enough. "
"A good, fast read about how two very unlikely men form a lifetime friendship.

Didn't set off any "fireworks" for me, though."
