She’s out to prove that there’s no such thing as choosing happiness.Isadora Bentley follows the rules. Isadora Bentley likes things just so. Isadora Bentley believes that happiness is something that flat-out doesn’t exist in her life—and never will.As a university researcher, Isadora keeps to herself as much as possible. She avoids the students she’s supposed to befriend and mentor. She stays away from her neighbors and lives her own quiet, organized life in her own quiet, organized apartment. And she will never get involved in a romantic relationship again—especially with another academic. It will be just Isadora and her research. Forever. But on her thirtieth birthday, Isadora does something completely out of character. The young woman who never does anything “on a whim” makes an impulse purchase of a magazine featuring a silly article detailing “Thirty-One Ways to Be Happy”—which includes everything from smiling at strangers to exercising for endorphins to giving in to your chocolate cravings. Isadora decides to create her own secret research project—proving the writer of the ridiculous piece wrong. As Isadora gets deeper into her research—and meets a handsome professor along the way—she’s stunned to discover that maybe, just maybe, she’s proving herself wrong. Perhaps there’s actually something to this happiness concept, and possibly there’s something to be said for loosening up and letting life take you somewhere . . . happy.Christian women’s fictionStand-alone novelBook length: 100,000 wordsPerfect for fans of Rachel Linden, Gail Honeyman, and Linda HolmesIncludes discussion questions for book clubs

"A very good surprise !
This book keeps getting better with each new page ! Even though Isadora is funny and witty from the start, I found it difficult to enter in the book because of her inside voice who speaks like a documentary and his very present at the beginning of the book .
But once she starts to meet our found family/friends the book really takes a turn for the best. I found it so relatable, I too feel the pressure of doing something impactful, I too sometimes wonders if it's better to be alone than to be heart broken ... This book gives hopes and some precious reminder on happiness !
A very happy read thanks to netgalley who provided this ARC in exchange for an honest review."
"4.5 rounded up even though I reserve 5 stars for books I’d like to read again, and I’m not sure if I’ll revisit this one. I feel I have to reward the effort here. I appreciate an author who can write a clean romance (hard to find these days), and a story that instructs without being preachy. This one is sweet like maple syrup. ❤️"

"Wholesome and light romance read about finding happiness. I found myself skimming through portions of the book because it was so repetitive. Meh, I wouldn’t recommend."

"I requested this book on Netgalley without knowing much but liking the title and cover and it did not disappoint. There was just something about this story and the characters that I really enjoyed and it was a good read. <br/><br/>This book follows Isadora who at the beginning of the book had just turned 30 and was unhappy in life. She didn’t have friends, she worked alone, didn’t really talk to people and was lonely. She finds and article about 31 steps to happiness and because she’s a researcher decides to test them out and see if it would lead her to happiness. <br/>We see her go on this journey towards self love, self discovery and happiness which was so refreshing and emotional at times. I really liked the lessons and how she found friendships in the most unlikely places with people that became her family. There was a part towards the end of the book where she had to confront things people in her life had done to her and free herself and it was a great moment in the book. <br/><br/>There’s also a nice romance plot in this book, Isadora meets a psychologist named Cal who needs help with book he’s writing and along the way they build their relationship and start doing some of the 31 steps together. Cal and Isadora were adorable and I really enjoyed seeing them develop and seeing Isadora learn to trust and see the best in him. <br/><br/>This was a really good book, with great characters, found family, fun and heartfelt moments. If you love women fiction and clean heartwarming romance this is a good one to pick up. <br/><br/>Thank you Thomas Nelson Fiction and Netgalley for this arc. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.<br/>"
