""Coraline" was such an incredible and phenomenal read!!! I'm surprised that I haven't read it sooner!!! I will admit I didn't completely realize for the longest time that the movie "Coraline" was based off of a book. I'm so happy that I decided to read the book after all these years! The book went into so much more depth and detail!!! The movie did capture the overall essence of the book, which is rare!!! If you're a fan of the movie, you have to read this masterpiece!!! Also, if you're a fan of creepy literature, this is also a must-read for you!!!
I decided to listen to the audiobook narrated by the author Neil Gaiman himself, and it was magical!!! The specific audiobook I listened to had original music created by "The Gothic Archies, " a rock band!!! They helped create an even more creepy and magical backdrop for the storyline!!! All in all, even though this book is technically geared towards children, in my opinion, it is equally appealing and entertaining for an adult audience, too!!! I adored this creepy masterpiece that holds a powerful heartwarming message for the readers."
"Eeeeek! This book is for 8-10 year olds I think not. It thoroughly freaked me out. But of course as Neil Gaiman always does you get these little bread crumbs of clues or ideas that blossom in the end. Coraline was an amazing character and besides going through the flipping door lol very smart and witty. The cat was by far my favorite."
""She wants something to love, I think...Something that isn't her. She might want something to eat as well. It's hard for tell with creatures like that."<br/><br/>This was my first time reading Coraline, and it was so fun! It was the perfect amount of unsettling for a middle-grade book, and I think this would be such a good intro to horror for someone young. <br/><br/>The world-building here is so great, and Gaiman did something amazing in creating this story. Coraline is a great character, and it's fun to be in her head.<br/><br/>Something that is interesting about this book is that many fairy tales are warnings to children, but Coraline seems to be more of a warning to parents. Her parents don't really pay attention to her, and it gets everyone into trouble. <br/><br/>Although I had fun reading this book, I think I like the movie better. It's such a visual story, and the movie is just so amazing. <br/>"
"If I read this as a child I would not only have been petrified but this would have given me nightmares for weeks."
