The Myth: Alice was an ordinary girl who stepped through the looking glass and entered a fairy-tale world invented by Lewis Carroll in his famous storybook. The Truth: Wonderland is real. Alyss Heart is the heir to the throne, until her murderous aunt Redd steals the crown and kills Alyss? parents. To escape Redd, Alyss and her bodyguard, Hatter Madigan, must flee to our world through the Pool of Tears. But in the pool Alyss and Hatter are separated. Lost and alone in Victorian London, Alyss is befriended by an aspiring author to whom she tells the violent, heartbreaking story of her young life. Yet he gets the story all wrong. Hatter Madigan knows the truth only too well, and he is searching every corner of our world to find the lost princess and return her to Wonderland so she may battle Redd for her rightful place as the Queen of Hearts.

"This book is good but it is not the Alice we know from any other book or movie of the character and it isn’t meant to be. The view of this story is if Carrol took what Alyss said and made it a story of children’s imagination. I think if you approach this book with no preconceptions of hat it should be and see it as a war story in a magical land then you’ll see the possibilities of this story. This was a quick read with an interesting story. If you enjoy war stories, battles for self acceptance and growth, with the addition of some competing world ideals, then this will be a good book for you. Is it a best read for me? Nope. But I think it is a pretty good average book to envelope into. "
"I read this a while back (middle school/high school), and it was good enough for me to want to revisit it.
Very minor complaints on the story. It's "imagination" system isn't defined enough for me, and young Alyss is very - young. But come the age jump I'm invested. The war was considerably more involved with the lives lost and the tactics implemented on many sides. I had a fun time."

"I love Alice in Wonderland related things, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was ok, could have been better, could have been worse. But then again it is intended for a younger audience than myself (however so was Harry Potter & who doesn't love that series?). I wish there was a little more character development & a little more creatively with the subject matter. I mean come on man, it's Wonderland & this is the best you could come up with? <br/>At any rate I'm not upset that I read it, I just wish the writing style was a little less juvenile in many respects (like the repetitive use of words like "zwoosh" "woah" "zonk" etc). You don't actually have to say the sound, we get what you're going for there buddy."
