"This book was very well-written, but it took a little while to get going. At first, I strongly disliked the attitudes of Holling's so-called friends and the authority figures in his life. But as Holling matures through his Shakespeare readings and general life experiences, his insights deepen and the plot grows more interesting. By the second half of the book I found myself speeding through and admiring every decision Holling makes. I enjoyed the sequel more, but this was still a really great book!"
