"Roses are Red, I do believe, is the author's debut novel and is Book One in the series, and damn she sucked me in, in the Best Possible Way. First, I would love to say thank you for not using the name Luca for an Italian man, so sick of the same name being used over and over again. Okay, end rant. This is a dark book. There are trigger warnings, and the author states there are sensitive subjects and graphic scenes and to read the prologue for the insight of the trilogy. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I feel like Book one will be the safest of the books. Here is why :

The prologue starts off with a scene in the present. It’s dark and graphic. Chapter one starts with Edith's story the day she graduates college with her and her friends. After graduation, they go out to celebrate, and that is when Edith meets Aiden. After a trauma from Edith's past, she hasn’t dated in years; Edith finally decides its time to move on and goes on a date with Aiden. Things between Edith and Aiden move fast. Edith is very independent, and Aiden, who appears sweet, wants to take care of Edith. About 75% of the book is Aiden hiding who he truly is. Then the book takes a turn to the dark side.

WHEN SOMEONE SHOWS YOU THEIR true colors, run.

Throughout the book, I never asked how did he turn to be such a monster. I saw all the red flags from the first time they saw each other. I did question myself,” is it because I am so biased? Doesn't she see this? I guess love is blind.”Don't get me wrong; it isn't as clear cut as you think; there are still many secrets that unfold, and I am sure more than we will learn more of them. Damn that cliffhanger at the end. I am still in shock. I don't want to get into much detail as I am afraid I will give out spoilers.

My concern was that even though I loved the blurb and sounded like a great book, I was kind of on the fence of how to writing style would be; sometimes it's a hit or miss. I like my books the darker, the better, and some books for me are not that dark. I am always trying to find that next dark read. But after reading, there is no concern; it's a smash hit.

What I liked was how we read Edith's story; in Ediths’Pov. I was drawn in and had to know what would happen next, especially with a side Character Grace, who Edith befriends. With book one ended dark, I have a feeling book two is going to be even darker. In the end, I was sitting on the edge. Now to wait patiently for book two and find someone who read this book to ask some questions on what they thought on some of the red flags.
I have received an arc in exchange for my honest review."
