"I love a great historical fiction novel with a strong female protagonist with a well researched background to set the scene. One can’t help to fall in love with Nora and admire her tenacity in times when women were seen as the weaker minded Sex. Kudos to Blake in this wonderful and thoughtful story.<br/><br/>It’s been almost a year later and I decided to pick up this book again forgetting that I already read it. As I whipped through the first few pages the storyline came flooding back to me but unlike other books where I would immediately stop because of my enlightened memory I kept reading. My conclusion after finishing this book for a second time is that this book is one of my favorites. The visceral emotions Blake evokes for each character whether it’s a patient or the evil doctor and down to the housekeeper; I couldn’t help but fall in love. The book inspires hope and courage during a time when a woman was never encouraged to be brave enough to want to aspire more than motherhood. I look forward to the second book so I may keep the story alive in my mind that much longer."
