In this #1 New York Times bestselling follow-up to True Believer, a young couple's love faces the ultimate test when the past disrupts the life and family they've built together. There are a few things Jeremy Marsh was sure he'd never do: he'd never leave New York City; never give his heart away again after barely surviving one failed marriage; and, most of all, never become a parent. Now, Jeremy is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, married to Lexie Darnell, the love of his life, and anticipating the birth of their daughter. But just as his life seems to be settling into a blissful pattern, an unsettling and mysterious message re-opens old wounds and sets off a chain of events that will forever change the course of this young couple's marriage.Dramatic, heartbreaking and surprising, this is a story about the love between a man and a woman and between a parent and a child. More than that, it is a story that beautifully portrays how the same emotion that can break your heart is also the one that will ultimately heal it.While the novel picks up the tale of Lexie Darnell and Jeremy Marsh that started in True Believer and will delight fans of that novel, it stands on its own as one of Nicholas Sparks's most deeply moving love stories.

"Oof, such prattle! 98% of this book was “much ado about nothing”. So surface level. I usually see Sparks as a good vacation read, but this was lame. Don’t bother. "

"It’s just an incredible love story. I love everything about love. The ups and downs that joy and pains, and this book has all of it. It proves that love can even overcome loss. I was hooked from the first page and wished I didn’t have a job so I could finish it 😂 let me tell you this is a tearjerker so be ready for some emotions! Nicholas Sparks has never and will ever disappoint! Love love love ❤️ "

"2/2-very slow start! Jeremy has moved to Boone Creek and Lexie and him are preparing to be parents, planning a wedding, and are remodeling a home. However, Jeremy questions everything he knows about Lexie when he starts to receive emails questioning him as the father since he was told he couldn’t conceive and informing Jeremy to look in Doris’ psychic notebook for answers. Doris is Lexie’s grandma who has correctly guessed the gender of every baby for years. In the notebook, Jeremy finds that Lexie was pregnant at one point and miscarried, something she has never mentioned to Jeremy. Jeremy begins to question Lexie, especially after he finds Lexie at Rodney’s house. Rodney is the town sheriff who has always loved Lexie. However, Rodney began to date Lexie’s best friend, Rachel. When Rachel and Rodney have an argument, Rachel traveled to NY to visit Alvin, Jermey’s cameraman, and spilled the secret of Lexie’s past. It is at his bachelor party that Jeremy figured out that Alvin was sending the emails because he felt that Jeremy was rushing into the wedding. He tells Alvin to never speak to him again. Lexie and Jeremy open up about her past and the emails and have a nice wedding, with Rachel as the MOH after she apologizes. However, when Lexie goes to deliver their daughter, Claire, named after Lexie’s mom, she dies in childbirth. Jeremy is in so much anguish, but raises Claire in Boone Creek. In the epilogue, Claire is having nightmares and Jeremy takes her to see the lights in the cemetery and informs her that her mom is here. Claire’s nightmares end. "
