"<strong>Was this supposed to be enjoyable?</strong><br/><br/>I will say that the author is a decent writer. I'm just not sure why she chose to write this. There is nothing fun about this book. It deals with a lot of loss and PTSD. That'll fine. I've read many books that do. However this author goes over the top with it. Khloe is okay. She lost her husband 3 years ago and is doing okay for the most part. Jasper on the other hand...yikes. He lost his parents at 17 and apparently lost his troop in the marines. That would mess with anyone, but Jasper should be institutionalized. I'm not joking. Literally everything sets him off. He spends the major of the book sobbing, hallucinating, and completely unable to function. His parents died 12 years ago and he's been out of the marines at least 8 years and he still can't function? He's not in town a week and he fully breaks down 3 times. One time he's about to pull out his gun in a crowded bar but gets saved by his partner. That's right. This author made this man who can't look at a chair or hear a guitar without losing it into a cop. I couldn't believe it. A cop? With a gun? Ugh. This man need much more help than a therapy dog. All of this only makes me feel worse for Khloe because he leaches onto her immediately. Asking her to marry him and guilting her into saying yes even though they've only been together a couple weeks. A couple chapters later she's still trying to decide if she loves him. What? I felt awful for her. There is very little effort made on the author's part to actually establish a relationship with these 2 people. Either he's a broken mess or their having sex. Sex which miraculously turns Jasper into the cheesiest guy alive. The dialogue is really awful. Stay away from this book if you're looking for romance. If you want to read about a guy who cries all the time and the woman who'll be his new mommy/lover then this book is for you."
