"I loved this book, first published in 1998, with the audiobook released in 2014. I listened to the audiobook. This story is based on the memoirs of Sarah Prine, a young pioneer woman in the 1880’s in Texas and Arizona. A beautiful account of the struggles and tragedies faced by women in that age. Her courage, bravado and sheer perseverance is something to behold. "
"Written entirely as diary entries, this story felt so real, almost as if it were a memoir. Sarah lives in the Arizona territory in the late 1800s and she is tough, brave, resilient, and loving. Her words bring such life to her experiences and the people she loves. This was an excellent historical fiction novel, based off actual family members of the author. "
