'Glorious' - Ben Aaronovitch, author of the Rivers of London seriesSet twenty years before the events of Legends & Lattes, Bookshops & Bonedust is a standalone cosy fantasy by BookTok sensation Travis Baldree about the power of good bookshops, great friends and the unexpected choices along the way.First loves. Second-hand books. Epic adventures.Viv's career with the renowned mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk - so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do?Spending her hours at a struggling bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted. Even though it may be exactly what she needs. Still, adventure isn't far away. A suspicious traveller in grey, a gnome with a chip on her shoulder, a summer fling and an improbable number of skeletons prove Murk to be more eventful than Viv could have ever expected.Sometimes, right things happen at the wrong time. Sometimes, what we need isn't what we seek. And sometimes, we find ourselves in the stories we experience together . . .'A perfectly executed prequel . . . the stakes are higher and the scones are hotter still!' - Nicholas Eames

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4 Another SUPERCOZY cozy from Travis Baldree who also spectacularly narrates the audiobooks. Book 2 of the series but it’s a prequel. These books are like being under the softest fuzziest blanket in front of a fire with a cup of cinnamon chai and your favorite furry familiar. It’s found family in a high fantasy world with pretty much ZERO angst and only the lightest of mysteries. I need MORE. These books have become an antidote not only for the real world but my favorite palette cleanse between the muurrrderrs, mayhem and twisty shenanigans I mostly read. Kudos Mr. Baldree. KUDOS "
"I never like the second book in a series as well as the first. However. In a strange twist, I liked this prequel even better than Legends & Lattes. Great backstory for Viv the mercenary orc. Recommend reading both of these for a refreshing, easy yet heartfelt read that will have you rooting for Viv. "
"Didn't like this as Legends & Lattes but it was still enjoyable. Liked being filled in on more of Viv's backstory."

"My eyes are moist!
Man this was so good! This was such a nice window (IYKYK) into what and who helped forge Viv in L&L. It was so easy to see her inspirations. Viv is down for the count and like many eager newcomers in the mercenary game, she’s got no time for shenanigans. She wants murder and mayhem and adventure and none of that will be happening in the sleepy town of Mirk will it?? Instead she finds a family, a purpose and a seed is planted. This was such a beautiful depiction into how we sometimes are just a small blip but can have such gigantic consequences in the lives of others. I LOVE SATCHEL! And that epilogue???? FANTASTIC, Mr. Baldree, you know what we want. This was great! Happy reading! "
"It was an enjoyable read, not entertaining or exciting but enjoyable. It felt welcoming and wholesome but that was about it. It did make me laugh every once in a while which was a point in it's favor. Though it felt like there was absolutely no plot at all in any way whatsoever. It's good for if you've just read a really depressing book or aren't feeling the greatest and need something to lighten up your day/mood."
"I love, love, love this book! Legends and Lattes is what got me into reading again, and Bookshops and Bonedust only revitalized that feeling. It is just as warm and lovely, and even more reflective. It perfectly balances its cozy nature with some good, well placed action. I hope the talented author will continue writing this sort of thing, and if he does, you can be sure I will be one of the first in line to read more."
"Better than the first, but still definitely fluff. Good fluff though :)"
