Edgar Allan Poe
Harry Clarke
This gorgeous anthology features 29 of Edgar Allan Poe's tales of the fantastic and the macabre. It combines some of his most popular stories — including "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" — with lesser-known gems. Illustrated with 8 full-color plates and 24 full-page drawings filled with brooding eroticism by Harry Clarke, a brilliant Edwardian-era artist too long overshadowed by his contemporary Aubrey Beardsley.

"The description here isn't accurate of the edition I have. This edition has 14 short stories and 32 poems.

I had forgotten how much I enjoy Poe. I'm not sure what first started me down the memory lane of Poe readings and recitations in high school, but I was thinking about that, and about The Simpson's Treehouse of Horror reading of Poe (which is great) and was like "hmm maybe I should do some reading and re-reading of him. So I did and he's still awesome. I mostly read the poems in this edition, since I picked up a different Poe collection of the short stories and I prefer the layout of that book, but wanted to read the poems. I'm still partial to the famous ones, but they're all wonderfully gothic and macabre. Also, I just love the rhythm of his poems."
