"This sequel had significantly more romance than book 1, which kind of detracted from the story and focused on side characters, pushing the plot into the second half of the book and slowing the whole story down for half the book. The action at the end felt a little rushed because of it, and the truly interesting stuff (what happened inside the Axiom facility) wasn't explored as much as in book 1. Also, I hate the tendency of authors to spend half of a sequel summarizing the first book. Like, please don't waste the space. It was a fairly easy read, though, so it doesn't matter that it wasn't as good as the first one."
