"It is hard to believe this is a middle-grade book. Very well written, good character development, rich imagination, great plot. While not itching to read book 2- The Wundersmith, it is absolutely on my radar. It is reminiscent of the Hunger Games, with the whimsy & magic of Harry Potter."
"This was a sweet middle grade, but not worth the hype. It seemed like a knock-off Harry Potter, especially in the beginning (a child doesn't feel loved in their home, then gets wisked away to a new world where they find a place they belong). The main character, Morrigan, didn't have a strong core desire and fear. I wouldn't have died if she didn't get her core desire. I wasn't super attached to the characters, though there were a few cute and quirky ones, like the giant cat. There were a couple of plot twists, but I saw them coming half way through the book. Overall, this was a sweet book that is suuuper similar to Harry Potter."
