"If the pointless "romance" was removed from this book, it would be so much better. The romance actually makes the book about a 3.5 or 3.75, but I really enjoyed the rest of the story. I liked the world building and I would enjoy more stories set in this world. None of the characters made an impact on me, so it wouldn't even have to be about them ha. It's a quick, enjoyable read."
"This was a book that my friend pick out for me, and she did an amazing job. This book is about two enchanters battling for the position imperial enchanter. It takes place back in time when there were rulers in Russia. I love that the author switches between the characters so, the reader has more insight than the characters, add more tension to the story. This story also has a love triangle that help add tightness to the two male leads, creating more drama. Definitely a good choice to read if you like enemies to lovers, magic and friendship. "

"There is no arena in this book, but the two enchanters have to fight to the death. It is truly an amazing book though."

"I discovered this book through Epic Reads First 5 and realized I needed more than a hint of 5 chapters. Skye artistically threads a beautiful alternative Russia all the while weaving an effortless tale of "The Crown's Game" between enchanters. I was so hooked that I read the book from cover to cover in less than 24 hours."
