Savannah is considered a Southern treasure, a city of beauty with a rich, colorful past. Some might even call it magical.... To the uninitiated, Savannah shows only her bright face and genteel manner. Those who know her well, though, can see beyond her colonial trappings and small-city charm to a world where witchcraft is respected, Hoodoo is feared, and spirits linger. Mercy Taylor is all too familiar with the supernatural side of Savannah, being a member of the most powerful family of witches in the South. Despite being powerless herself, of course. Having grown up without magic of her own, in the shadow of her talented and charismatic twin sister, Mercy has always thought herself content. But when a series of mishaps--culminating in the death of the Taylor matriarch--leaves a vacuum in the mystical underpinnings of Savannah, she finds herself thrust into a mystery that could shake her family apart...and unleash a darkness the line of Taylor witches has been keeping at bay for generations. In The Line, the first book of the Witching Savannah series, J. D. Horn weaves magic, romance, and betrayal into a captivating Southern Gothic fantasy with a contemporary flair.

"Love this series, I have read it twice. Adventure, witches and romance. Not Fifty Shades kind though."

"<strong>I’m confused about my feelings for this book. </strong><br/><br/>I’d give it 3.5 stars. I have to be honest though and say I’m not sure how I feel about this book. <br/><br/>This is story about a young girl about to turn 21. She is born into a family of witches but she herself has no power. The story then continues with a non-stop line of issues that arise. On top of all the issues is also her love life. <br/><br/>Ok let’s tackle one thing at a time. I had a hard time putting the book down. It was non-stop things going on in the story. Many twist (including a few I did not see coming) and lots of action. I like fast paced action books, however, this one was almost too much for me. It was one thing after another and I kept waiting for some sort of resolve. You do get the resolve until at the end but it’s literally one chapter worth. Maybe that’s because the story continues with other books or maybe that’s just how the author wanted it. I don’t know but I felt worn out after reading this and not very satisfied, but I couldn’t put it down. So now you see how I’m confused about my feelings toward this book. <br/><br/>Now the next part in the book I’d like to tackle is Mercy’s love life. This is a love triangle story between Mercy, her best friend/boyfriend, and her sisters new boyfriend. I was very confused about this part of the story as well. Without giving anything away I will say that by the end of the book she is with only one guy. However that relationship isn’t united, so if you were hoping for some resolve in her love life then you’ll be disappointed. <br/><br/>Overall it was a good book. Pretty well written, fast paced, many twists and some romance. However, it had no real ending and for me I’m left feeling lost and confused. The story did end pretty much and I could probably walk away without needing to read the others but I can’t. I will read the next book if only for the hope that I’ll finally get some closure. Here’s to hoping right?!"
