"Amazing world building and dialogue! This is definitely worth the read, though it is hard to get through at times due to the constant change in point of view. If that doesn’t put you off at all, the characters make it worth reading regardless of anything else. They come in such fluid and interesting forms, each with their own beautiful perspectives on the events taking place. TW: sexual assault and graphic violence."

"This sequel took all of the first books humor, joy of discovery, and wonder and threw it right out the dang window. This one's filled with misery and despair... Honestly it was a little though to get through. I had I put it down several times to lighten my mood. Hoping the third book with breathe life and hope (ha ha) back into the series."
"This is the second book of the series of The daughter of smoke and bone! Its one of my favorite series, definitely recomend!!!"

"Karou, Akiva, Zuzana, Mik, Liraz, Hazael, and many of the other characters loved or many loved to hate. Days of Blood & Starlight, the sequel to The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, is bigger and better then ever. Akiva found a thurible labeled with Karou's name in the Kirin caves of Madrigal/Karou's childhood and assumed that she was dead. Karou is very much alive but working for Thiago, the White Wolf of the rebellion, as the replacement resurrectionist. Karou is building an army of chimaera from gleaned souls from an Eretz battlefield to start a new terror campaign against the hated angels. Meanwhile, Akiva is given the duty of hunting down and killing chimaera left from the fall of Loremendi but is not only unable to slaughter the lives of innocents, even if they are the enemy. With Liraz and Hazael by his side, Akiva decides to not only help his enemies but to destroy the tyrannical rule of the Emperor, no matter the cost. Karou is surrounded by enemies in her own kind but finds some allies and ultimately "makes" her own. The first book was good but the second book in this new and exciting series holds a surprise on every page. Expect the unexpected from the characters and the winding plot of this enthralling sequel from Laini Taylor. A must read for teens in love with the fantastical which takes place in a new and interesting setting with a complete cast of characters only dreams could make. Highly recommend. Ages 16+"
