Kevin Hart
New York Times bestselling author, superstar comedian, and Hollywood box office star Kevin Hart turns his immense talent to the written word in this “hilarious but also heartfelt” (Elle) memoir on survival, success, and the importance of believing in yourself. The question you’re probably asking yourself right now is: What does Kevin Hart have that a book also has? According to the three people who have seen Kevin Hart and a book in the same room, the answer is clear: A book is compact. Kevin Hart is compact. A book has a spine that holds it together. Kevin Hart has a spine that holds him together. A book has a beginning. Kevin Hart’s life uniquely qualifies him to write this book by also having a beginning. It begins in North Philadelphia. He was born an accident, unwanted by his parents. His father was a drug addict who was in and out of jail. His brother was a crack dealer and petty thief. And his mother was overwhelmingly strict, beating him with belts, frying pans, and his own toys. The odds, in short, were stacked against our young hero. But Kevin Hart, like Ernest Hemingway, J.K. Rowling, and Chocolate Droppa before him, was able to defy the odds and turn it around. In his literary debut, he takes us on a journey through what his life was, what it is today, and how he’s overcome each challenge to become the man he is today. And that man happens to be the biggest comedian in the world, with tours that sell out football stadiums and films that have collectively grossed over $3.5 billion. He achieved this not just through hard work, determination, and talent. “Hart is an incredibly magnetic storyteller, on the page as he is onstage, and that’s what shines through [in this] genial, entertaining guide to a life in comedy” (Kirkus Reviews).

"This was better than I was expecting it to be. I really enjoyed it!
Kevin Hart lets us into his childhood, his family, his messy relationship with his ex-wife and his current relationship with his wife and children.
He explains how dedication and perseverance is what got him to where he is today. How believing in himself and his dreams, helped him accomplish what others thought impossible.
I love Kevin's optimism and how real and honest he was in this book, he showed his flaws and strengths. It couldn't have been easy to put all your dirty laundry out there for the world.
The audiobook was read by Kevin himself which I think just made it that much better. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times."
"Hands down one of the best documentary books I’ve read , the title speaks for its self every chapter draws you into wanting to know more and more about Kevin’s life and it’s so in-depth and detailed from the moment he was born to where he is now , and it’s super funny because Kevin’s narrating the entire book 👍🏻👍🏻"
"Superstar comedian and Hollywood box office star Kevin Hart turns his immense talent to the written word by writing some words. It begins in North Philadelphia. He was born an accident, unwanted by his parents. His father was a drug addict who was in and out of jail. His brother was a crack dealer and petty thief. And his mother was overwhelmingly strict, beating him with belts, frying pans, and his own toys. From there, the book goes through his crazy childhood to his career and adulthood.

I enjoyed this book, but it was nothing like what I thought it would be! I was expecting this to be more like a comedy book/show, with joke after joke, but truth be told, I laughed very little. There were many funny parts at the beginning as I couldn't believe that's how his life started, and he reads it with a sense of humor. I am so glad I listened to the audio book as it brought it more to life and had Kevin Hart's flare! This book was inspirational and motivational. It showed how far someone can grow with preservance, a clear goal, and the ability to get back up. Kevin tells everything, about what it's like growing up in Philly, the hard work he put in from starting in Philly and New York, moving up to LA, and everything in-between! This was a great book with many life lessons that anyone can learn from.

I rated this book with 4.5"
