"Amazing book with great pacing. Most of it is very tense, but throughout the book you hold on because it gives you the feeling of "it HAS to turn out alright in the end, right?" Very compassionate story about domestic violence in a creative setting that definitely changes the situation. Characters go through such great personal development and no one is one-dimensional or cliche. Content TW: domestic violence, child abuse, detailed dead animal imagery, gore, misc violence"
"This book was truly an amazing experience. I haven't read many books that were written so recently and actually about the real world(I normally read fantasy). But this was so different from anything that I've read. The characters being put in yet another pandemic directly after COVID and put into survival senecios one after the other creating a suspenseful read. Although the modern references and the solution to their violence (while unique) felt kind of out of place"
"An undertaking of a book, but it was so well written and thought out. The spotlight that the author puts on just the horrible people in the world and how they behave and think is so accurate. Then on the other side the survivor story and growth of the characters to over come little by little day by day is so heart warming. Highly recommend this book!"
"The premise was very compelling and I enjoyed the grim depiction in the first half. It was very realistic and disturbing. The second half takes an odd turn that felt out of nowhere with the VFR arc, but I still managed to enjoy the book all the way through. It was fun in its absurdity so I think so long as you don't take it too seriously it's still enjoyable, as the VFR arc is clearly a fun empowerment fantasy."
"WOW WOW WOW!! This book literally blew me away in the very best way!

I didn’t read it initially because I heard such mixed reviews and not gonna lie that 500+ pages scared me away…BUT I am here to tell everyone who are my fellow hardcore horror/thriller readers who doesn’t get triggered by any type of behaviors…THE VIOLENCE is a must read for you!!

I was able to listen to the audiobook and read at the same time and let me say this I finished it in less than a day and that is a tell tell sign that this is a fantastic read! It is filled with every type of social injustices that are relevant today and spins it on its head!

If you enjoy reading nail biting, edge of your seat, horrifying books, don’t let the page count sway you away it reads so fast.

Be sure to check out the TW if you do have any triggering situations"
"I loved the pacing of this book I thought the plot was very well done and cohesive even though it goes some weird places. I loved all the characters I think my favorite was the grandma was my favorite I loved the way her character progressed and her relation ship with Brooklyn. I’ve never read a book about abuse as much as this one was. 8/10 the only thing I wished they would’ve added was a bit more about what happened after the end."
