A horse breeder by trade, Corbin Jonquil is more at home in the stables than in the ballroom of his sprawling estate. Corbin is the quietest of the Jonquil brothers and has always faded into the background, contentedly unnoticed. When a mysterious young widow, Mrs. Clara Bentford, moves into the neighborhood, horse breeder Corbin Jonquil quickly falls in love -- but the menace of Clara's past threatens to tear them apart. Will the couple have the courage to fight for the promise of forever?

"Be still my heart. I! Ahhh!! Ugh!! So beautiful! So undeniably, unequivocally, exponentially beautiful!"

"Probably my favorite story so far of the Jonquil series since Crispin’s story {yes, I’m aware Crispin isn’t technically a Jonquil}…

Clara was frustrating in her line of thinking. But I had to quickly silence that voice because her backstory is of abuse. She has had no example of men being kind, protective, caring, respectful even from her Father. My heart hurt for her when she rescued Caroline from Mr. Finley and was figuring out a way to help her not get in trouble from her husband. When you think of how much she’s had to overcome to allow Corbin to love her, you can’t not be in awe of her.

Sweet, shy Corbin. His being flustered was so funny. And him following his brothers wayward advice to get Clara to notice him was amusing but the church pew scene and the brothers conspiring against him was my favorite. I’ve loved Mater having a small role in all her sons’ finding their happily ever after with their significant others. Corbin being able to love and fully accept Clara’s daughter and nephew is just so Corbin of him.

Aside from their love story, Clara’s situation was a great addition. I was anticipating how everything would work out. I didn’t even realize there were two issues until it was brought up and the way they were resolved was very well executed."
