"A historical fiction novel set during the Civil War, this book dives headfirst into the heartache of war. I enjoyed that this book was told from Rosalyn‘s point of view because the reader experiences her unwavering love for Jeremiah as well as her conflicting emotions. However, there isn’t much else that stands out about the book. It was exactly what I thought it would be and forgettable. If you are looking for a historical fiction book not about World War II and not as sad as a Kristin Hannah book, then I would recommend this one. Overall, the book was good not great; sad but not heart wrenching; and compelling but not riveting. 3/5."
