13 Reasons Why meets the poetry of Emily Dickinson in this gripping debut novel that's perfect for fans of Sara Zarr or Jennifer Brown.A Goth girl with an attitude problem, Elizabeth Davis must learn to control her anger before it destroys her. Emily Delgado appears to be a smart, sweet girl with a normal life, but as depression clutches at her, she struggles to feel normal. Both girls are in Ms. Diaz's English class, where they connect to the words of Emily Dickinson. Both are hovering on the edge of an emotional precipice. One of them will attempt suicide. And with Dickinson's poetry as their guide, both girls must conquer their personal demons to ever be happy. In an emotionally taut novel that is equal parts literary and commercial, with a richly diverse cast of characters, readers will relish in the poetry of Emily Dickinson and be completely swept up in the turmoil of two girls fighting for their lives in Cindy L. Rodriguez's stunning debut.

"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* Soooo, this was an okay book. I seriously need to read the synopsis of each book I pick up because I blindsided myself with this one lol. That first chapter really just took my breath away, I couldn't believe that this is how it started. I confused myself with the different characters because I didn't realize I was reading about 2 girls lol, see exactly why I need to read the synopsis. The actual characters themselves were an okay portrayal of what a teenager could be going through. But honestly Emily kind of bothered me, especially when she got mad over the most simple thing her "secret boyfriend". I understand her situation and why she kept it a secret but come on Emily don't go get mad because he did that weird thing in class. Abby i just wanted to slap, she took everything a little too hard and then she goes and posts about a serious conversation, like are you kidding me??! I would've just dropped her honestly, who cares about the life long friendship. Elizabeth I felt bad for, but also she didn't need to act out that way. One big thing that really bothered me is the marble covered notebook! First Elizabeth has it and then at the end Emily had it and gave it to her teacher as her suicide note?? Whose was it to begin with??? That made no sense!!! It was nice to see the many perspectives and it kept me guessing which one committed suicide or at least tried to. Would I pick this up again? No. Should there be some trigger warnings? YES!!!"
