"So let’s start with the things I really liked about this book. The history is fascinating, and the author does a great job of bringing us to the time and place, which makes sense considering she’s worked in museums. The creepy housekeeper vibes were amazing, and I love anything that mentions Poe, especially this time of year. The not so great parts? The “twist” didn’t really work for me, and goodness gracious was that romance overly dramatic. Listen, I’m a drama queen and a sucker for love, but even I was rolling my eyes a bit. Good for them though! Overall, I would love to visit Maine, so I’m counting reading this as a win."

"I enjoyed Hester Fox's debute novel and was really excited for the novel's release. I enjoyed it, but had a lot of trouble getting into the plot line. There is some things you need to suspend belief for, like the kind of insta love aspect and some of the things done to scare Sophronia or the fact that that a person can just show up at a church and take over sermon there? I think that some of the characters were a little on the flat side, but I really enjoyed Sophronia's character a lot. Overall I definitely think it was an alright book but not one I would necessarily read again."
