"The best of The Tales of Otori yet. The depth of each character, even minor characters in the book, is enchanting. For some reason I thought the author was a man and I was so surprised because I had never read women protagonists so well written by men, but of course just discovered Lian Hearn is in fact a woman! This series has some of the most honest and powerful women characters I have read and I love every second of their inner monologues. I highly recommend listening to the audio books which switches back and forth between a male and female narrator adding even more to the narrative switching from Kaede or Shizuka to Takeo in the book."
